Camera and Photography Reviews

Through a deal I worked out with ProPhotoRental (which as a website, BTW, is teh awesome), I now have a great opportunity to try and use a wide selection of top-of-the-line camera bodies and lenses. My inspiration behind setting up the deal was to improve my own photography - to get better the only way I know how… by shooting a ton, and shooting with great gear. The ancillary benefit I’ve since realized is that using the equipment presents a great opportunity to post reviews of it all here. I’m going to be seeing a lot, and I thought my thoughts on all of it would provide value to other photographers.

Given the nature of my photographic skill though, the value will be different than most reviews. I’m a hack at best, a middling amateur at worst. I don’t have a large technical expertise, I don’t have a lot of experience with the equipment, and I don’t know much about composition. I won’t try to pretend either… the reviews here will NOT be about tech specs, cool features, or about shooting professional-quality stuff. They will be my reflections on the equipment, from an exploratory perspective

My reviews will also encompass my own photography explorations. In other words, the reviews will reflect not only what I think of the equipment, but what I think of what I did with the equipment. They will include what I shot, how I like it, and what I’d like to do better next time. I’m betting this will really piss the gearheads off!

If you have something to add to the posts, about the gear or my photography, please do so in the comments section of each post. I’d love to learn from you guys — AS LONG AS YOU’RE NOT OVERLY CRITICAL!
